BHPIO owns, operates and maintains a water and tailings dam infrastructure that is integral to the mining operations. This infrastructure is part of our Group Priority Risk framework.
The Water Programs lead is a key role in aligning, focusing and accelerating our improvement towards significantly reducing the Group Priority Risk for Dams and supporting the implementation of the WAIO Surplus Water Program.
You will be working in a diverse, outcomes focused, inclusive team of professionals reporting to the Superintendent Water – Operational Technical and Compliance, success in this role will be achieved by:
• Providing technical expertise in the area of Dam engineering
• Taking a business perspective to accelerate key priorities
• Operating collaboratively and building partnerships both internally and externally
• Complying with our regulator requirements and program objectives
• Driving Best Practice Principals
To be successful in this role you will be a highly collaborative and technically experienced professional who possesses extensive operational experience in managing Dams.
You are team oriented and safety focused with a demonstrated track record in working with others to achieve results.
In addition, we are ideally looking for the following skills and experience:
• Degree qualified in Engineering (Civil or mechanical preferred)
• Experience with operating, maintaining and managing dam assets in a mining environment.
• Sound understanding of the water utilities and dams regulatory environment and requirements.
• Industry experience in projects and /or program management.
• Continuous Improvement focus
