About the Role
As a Specialist Engineer Telemetry Systems in the Technology Supply Chain Applications Coal team, you will be the Subject Mater Expert for remote telemetry and water modelling data solutions delivered through Loggernet, IIOT solutions and associated systems in the Coal asset . You will proactively improve functionality, operational stability, availability and performance of these services and data pipelines.

Reporting to the Lead Supply Chain Applications Coal, your key accountabilities will include:
- Embedding the principles, standards, and patterns for remote telemetry solutions in the Coal asset.
- Participate in incident management, identifying and resolving system issues
- Drive problem management and root cause analysis for failures
- Provides technical expertise to projects and other support teams to resolve priority issues, root cause analysis, implement complex changes and requests
- Work with customers and project resources to design, build, test and deploy telemetry solutions utilising modern development techniques and best practices
- Identify and lead initiatives for the improvement of remote telemetry service reliability, stability, and performance
- Develop strong relationships with other BHP teams, service partners, and vendors
- Support a culture of continuous improvement across people, process, technology, and cost
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have proven recent data engineering skills:
- Have an understanding of service delivery and service management through the use of the Service Now toolset and platform
- Experience with remote device configuration and data capture systems, such as Loggernet and IIOT solutions using MQTT and Sparkplug B is preferred, but not mandatory
- Experience with building and troubleshooting remote health, safety and environmental telemetry or SCADA systems with a focus on timely and reliable delivery to upstream systems.
- Understanding of the important role of Health, Safety and Environmental systems, as well as water modelling in the operations of Coal assets.
- Experience with the use of data historian and visualisation through the use of OSI PI platforms would be advantageous
You will have a tertiary qualification in Technology, Engineering, Computer Science or similar discipline and have post-qualification experience designing, developing, maintaining and supporting complex solutions. You have strong analytical skills with an excellent understanding of root cause analysis, 5 whys or similar problem investigation methodologies.
As the preferred candidate, you have superior interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to develop meaningful relationships and influence stakeholders across all organisational levels.
