Surveillance Officer

The DM Roads business provides a range of services in road network management. We assist road and intelligent transport systems (ITS) asset owners to extract maximum value from their assets and provide road networks that meet the demand of today’s ever-changing environment. We operate from a network of over 50 depots and maintain more than 33,000 km of road.

An exciting opportunity has now become available for a Surveillance Officer to assist in the supervision of works by others on the Main Roads Metropolitan network.

THE ROLE

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Surveillance of works by others on project sites to ensure compliance to safety
• Ensuring all work undertaken by others on the Main Roads WA network is conducted within industry/legislative standards.
• Maintaining records of safety performance of works by others and reporting back to management on observed breaches, compliance, and issues.
• Conducting site inspections to ensure all personnel, resources, plant, and equipment meet contractual, organisational, and legislative/statutory requirements.
• Liaising with contractors, operation groups, and public utilities on associated work as required (stakeholder management).
• Ensure effective implementation of site safety, quality, environment, and traffic management plans.
• Interpreting and clarifying contract specifications, detailed reports, compliance records, and drawings.
• Promoting the reporting of incidents, near misses, hazards, non-conformances, system improvements and customer complaints and ensure corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.

ABOUT YOU

• Previous experience and a background in Civil Construction.
• A good understanding of road building and Main Roads WA specifications.
• Current WA “C” Class Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
• Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) Ticket (desirable).
• Knowledge of traffic management for road works and Main Roads specifications and/or other – IPWEA, Australian Standards, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to proactively build relationships with key stakeholders and supply chain.
• Basic computer skills and competent in Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Developed analytical and planning/prioritisation skills.
