We are currently seeking expressions of interest for a highly motivated Study Manager to join our Studies team. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Studies, this role is responsible for carrying out activities to support the approved studies within the studies portfolio.
To be successful in this role candidates must have strong interpersonal skills with good understanding of both operational and planning functions within the mining industry, including the technical and support functions that support these areas. The candidate will possess strong relationship and communication skills with strong operational background to be able to articulate the conceptual mining activities to the relevant stakeholders.
Understanding of the long term strategy and develop a pathway to delivery the project by the required by date
Primary point of contact relating to designated studies and responsible for planning, execution and delivery of planned study activities;
Coordination and development of key inputs of the study including; project schedules, capital and operating cost estimates, approvals and business case for the study
Finding and assessing innovative solutions that add value, from both an economic and social point of view, within the mining and infrastructure areas
Liaise with technical support functions to understand risk and opportunities to the proposed operations and to enable timely achievement of study milestones
The role will also interact with internal technical and functional stakeholders and will be expected to effectively manage integration and coordination with operating activities
Site travel and on ground coordination and planning required
Qualifications and Experience
Relevant Bachelor degree in Engineering (or similar based on experience)
Knowledge and experience in open pit mining and related activities such as infrastructure, transport, logistics and marketing
Previous project/study management experience
Appreciation of the First Nations and tenure landscape in the Pilbara
Understanding of the regulatory approvals framework in Western Australia (EP Act and Aboriginal Heritage Act, etc) will be beneficial
Very strong interpersonal skills with both internal and external groups (both operational and technical)
Ability to work effectively in a matrix structure, team orientated and take initiative
**Water related studies and project experience (dewatering, supply, infrastructure) as well as experience with water related approvals (RIWI act) will be advantageous**
