Role Details:

Reporting to the Manager: Mining Engineering, you would be responsible for developing and evaluating technically viable and sustainable solutions for Gold Fields Australia strategic projects and early-stage scoping and concept studies. The management and timely delivery of these projects is required for inclusion in strategic and business planning, delivery of ESG targets and setting the direction for further study progression. The position is an underground and open pit mining technical subject matter expert with extensive experience in studies who can ensure timely delivery of quality work and use their influence across various disciplines and levels within the Business to facilitate engagement and progression of strategic projects.

This role is offered on a 5 days on 2 days off roster (Monday – Friday) at our Perth corporate office on a permanent basis. For this role we will consider full-time, part-time or job share options. Flexible working arrangements are available after a qualifying period for the right candidate.

About the role:

• Identify and scope projects through the annual planning process and prioritise, schedule and manage the project pipeline to deliver reports and key findings;
• Undertake and deliver mining studies, trade-offs and projects for strategic planning, business planning and decarbonisation planning;
• Develop technical and financial standards to consistently evaluate methods for the studies across the region;
• Develop strong networks with operational and technical personnel and supporting departments to ensure effective communication, information transfer and efficient integration and execution of plans;
• Monitor the progress of work undertaken by external entities, directing, managing and intervening as appropriate to secure the delivery of outcomes;
• Prepare reports, AFEs and other documents based upon the results and findings of the studies undertaken and facilitate the progression of the project through to the next phase;
• Utilise project management software to manage and schedule studies and projects, reporting regularly on progress and cost.

About you:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering
• Minimum of 10 years’ technical and operational experience
• Exposure to various mining methods and emerging technologies
• Demonstrated capacity to influence operational and senior management
• Experience with study and project management
• A working knowledge of the relevant sections of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations
