Mining Engineer (Production) Full Time

Reporting to the Production Engineering Superintendent, the Mining Engineer (Production) will ensure safe sustainable production from the Gwalia Mine at Leonora through the provision of technical capacity required for the planning and execution of all mining activities.

This opportunity is a permanent, FIFO role on a balanced 8 days on, 6 days off, roster cycle, flying on company time to and from Perth. You also have the option to DIDO from Kalgoorlie.

The Opportunity

• Ensure own Health and Safety as well as that of all other workers.  Identify and maintain safe work practices and complete all required safety training.
• Contribute to ensuring there is a comprehensive suite of fit-for-purpose systems in place and operating properly within in the Mining Department.
• Contribute to ensuring the Mining Department meets its environmental, community and statutory obligations and is considered a welcome guest in host communities.
• Contribute to ensuring a constructive and creative environment for business improvement within the Mining Department.
• Contribute to the mine planning and scheduling processes, ensuring they support and meet operational objectives, through the timely and accurate preparation of weekly (7/21) and monthly schedules, appropriately aligned with the quarterly, LOM, Budget and / or guidance from Management.
• Ensure timely and accurate daily reporting of mining performance physicals to management and the wider operations team.
• Provide engineering support to the Mine Foreman in the day to day operational requirements of development and production activities, including a detailed handover process.
• Monitor mining performance physicals and data to identify underutilised capacity and opportunities for increased output, as well as analysing variances to the weekly, monthly and quarterly forecasts.
• Identify and communicate areas of risk in the schedule, providing support to the implementation of risk mitigation and contingency strategies.
• Contribute to mine planning and stope processes, including detailed stope reconciliation.
• Identify and provide engineering support to the implementation of business improvement opportunities at Gwalia operations.

What we will expect from you

• You should feel a strong alignment with St Barbara’s values as you will be required to live them.
• You are able to produce a National Police Clearance (valid within the last 12 months) for site access purposes.
• You have a current unencumbered ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence.
• A Mining Engineering qualification accredited by the Institute of Engineers Australia, as required for WA First Class Mine Managers certification.
• Completion of underground practical experience as required for WA First Class Mine Manager certification
• Two (2) to three (3) years relevant work experience.
• Strong ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Strong communication skills, including communicating with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks.
• High level of enthusiasm for the work with high performance goals.
• Commercial acumen relevant to the role.
• Dangerous Goods Security Card.
