About the Role
As a Principal Cloud Architect, you will have three main responsibilities: leading cultural change for cloud adoption, developing and coordinating cloud architecture, and coordinating the adoption process. You will have a variety of technical and nontechnical skills, but above all, you must be a great collaborator in order to empower and connect with a variety of other architecture roles in the organization.
You will build close relationships with Cloud Architects and Engineers within in the Cloud Team and with projects across BHP. You will engage with external stakeholders to provide technical guidance and advice to speed up the adoption of the platform aligned to our technology and cloud strategy. Based in Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne or Singapore, this role supports flexible work practices.
The role include:
Engage early with Cloud project teams, including Architects and Engineers to provide advisory and expertise, to effectively influence the end to end migration process ensuring best practice and streamlined implementation of the Cloud strategy
Engage with Cloud platform teams to ensure the platform capabilities, product and services roadmap meet Customer requirements
Communicate cloud platform products and services effectively to stakeholders and other architects to ensure a secure and scalable approach to leveraging cloud is realised
Interface and collaborate with other architecture functions and internal cloud engineering squads on best practice cloud architecture patterns
Drive deep architectural discussions to ensure complex solutions are successfully deployed in the cloud and leverage cloud native architecture patterns where appropriate
Enable and support customers to develop applications and data-enabled use cases securely and quickly
Ensure applications migrated to the cloud are supported in a sustainable manner
You will be a trailblazer who enjoys delivering great products through complex problem solving. As a fantastic communicator you will be able to get the best of a team and able to engage with a range of multidisciplinary stakeholders.
We are looking for those with the following:
Significant platform experience including operational excellence, cyber security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimization
Significant experience migrating applications to Cloud, driving legacy application modernization and adoption of Cloud native solutions
Significant infrastructure architecture expertise including capacity planning, environment strategy and hosting requirements
Strong understanding of IaaS and cloud native solutions, incl. containers and serverless
Significant experience using infrastructure as code and designing end-to-end DevSecOps pipelines
Understanding of Cloud capability and application in a complex enterprise architecture and technology environment
Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to align stakeholders on complex technical decisions
Expertise in at least one high-level programming language
Believes in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, safety, and trust
Not afraid to “roll up the sleeves” and seeks to go outside comfort zone to learn
