Due to rapid growth, we are seeking experienced Land Acquisition and Access professionals at all levels to support the development of Fortescue’s renewable energy projects. These roles will provide strategic advice regarding land matters for various projects in the portfolio, requiring collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders to drive and achieve results.
Developing and implementing land strategies for priority projects via an optimal combination of acquisitions, contract rights, mining and other regulatory permits, licences and leases
Undertaking property due diligence and preparing contract documentation
Negotiating land agreements and resolving land access issues
Building positive relationships with key landholders, regulators and other stakeholders
Working closely with Native Title, Project Approvals, Environment, Heritage and Project Controls teams to understand and document development constraints, set aligned assumptions and continually refine project definition, schedule and budget
Analysis of land use conflict arising from mineralisation risk, and liaising with FMG Exploration to develop mitigation strategies
Maintain management systems for leases, contract rights and obligations, regulatory licenses and permit applications, compliance and ground disturbance
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications in law, commerce, economics, business or social sciences
Advanced experience working with land tenure legislation
Experience using databases and systems to access GIS-related information such as tenure records, third party agreements, native title
Familiarity with land tenure and titles within WA (essential) and other jurisdictions within Australia (desirable)
A solid understanding of the mining industry and the competitive dynamics within it
Strong eye for attention to detail and accuracy
Strong commercial acumen and negotiation capability
Collaborative with the ability to interact constructively across all levels and functions to deliver outcomes
Self-starter with resilience when managing diverse workloads and competing priorities
